One of the Best Underground Bands of Pakistan – Visaal – who had been dissapeared from the music scene since last few years, is now making a come back again this friday with their brand new single release ‘Meray Naseeb’ .

The Band Visaal who claimed fame with their debut hit single ‘Noorea’ is still a favorite Music Band for many music enthusiasts in Pakistan. The band disjointed a few years back when its members left for abroad for further studies. The Band’s vocalist Sher Ali, who is in Australia these days for studies, is now willing to carry and lead the band again.

We, at PakiUM , would like to welcome and thank Visaal in the same note, as their presence in the music scene will definitely bring some quality Rock Music back in Pakistan.

Beta Version Of PakiUM V6

So finally after 17 hectic days of tension and bearing loss of not having a single traffic, I observed some good progress today and felt really good after sorting out some major obstacles in applying the new theme and bringing up with some new features on PakiUM.com.

I was hell confused or may be you can say so much ‘desperate’ or ‘perfectionist’ about my product that I couldn’t satisfy my needs completely(in beta version of this theme), let alone my site visitors’ expectations. I was failing again and again in developing this version. In these 17 days starting from the New Year Night, when I turned off the site , I have literally tried 7 wordpress themes and during this process I surfed several hundred even thousands web-pages for looking up a suitable theme for this new version of PakiUM.

At the very start of this new version’s development, I wanted the homepage to be full and loaded with content and interlinked with other PakiUM services(that are in the pipeline). In easy words, I again wanted it to be like a ‘magazine look’ rather than a ‘blog style’ but, contrary to my expectations, No magazine layout fit the needs for Pakium. Some premium theme that I found were VERY COOL but not easy to navigate, flexible and satisfactory. This was also the con of the last theme of Pakium – Noctis – which gave us a really professional look but indeed resulted in some serious damages like:

• Heavy Page Load (yes, Google penalized us so many times for heavy page load)
• Heavy Graphics (search engines hate sites that take contain too much graphics and less content)
• Dark Color Theme (majority of website users don’t really like visiting darker websites)
• Not Easy to Navigate (it was another major drawback in that theme that was reported firmly by TOO MANY WELL-WISHERS of Us, I thank them all personally)

About NEW THEME – FRESH LIFE

This new theme is called ‘FRESH LIFE’ and I am hoping to give Pakium a fresh new life with this theme.

The new version is LIVE now as you can see and now I am planning to write a post to introduce our site visitors with some new features and options that are used and added this time. There was a complete huge list and still I personally want to add and embed so much stuff in it but some loyal friends rightly suggested to KEEP IT SIMPLE so finally I decided not to make it more heavy and cluttered with too much things.

What would be NEW in PakiUM V6 ?

So there would be questions popping into many minds “What the hell is this V6? and why should I visit it frequently?

In new pakium, there wont be only musicians and music all the time, as we are growing, we are expanding our coverage as well. Now pakium will be covering stories in a formal as well as in informal style. So now on, we will be covering not only Music ! but Media, TV, Entertainment and Showbiz Industry and much much more. But remain hopeful as this all will be done in a “Pakistani perspective” and to support our Entertainment, Music and Showbiz industry.

Below is an excerpt from my discussion, with a friend that I had last night, on the latest move and strategy of PakiUM:

“This time we , specially I, am taking Pakium very serious,  I am really optimistic about my websites future. We are living in a digital era and having some readership and authority over a Niche in Cyber space, is a big success. The link that had been cut off with the readers, due to a heavy magazine look  and lack of updates and posts, will be restored first. Our first priority will be to re-engage them and bring back those precious readers without whom Pakium can do nothing big. Further more, We will be covering the topics and stories “out of the box” which means diverse topics and topics with general interest will also be addressed.”

So keep stick to Pakium guys and allow me to get back on work so that you can get the next post containing information about using this new version and features that are added into this version.

Why are we(pakium) charging the Underground Bands/Singers ?

First of all, We want to make clear that MUSIC SUBMISSION is FREE on PakiUM. But that doesn’t mean every Tom, Dick & Harry will record his track in his home pc and we will put that Up.

THERE IS A CRITERIA !

Those who are mis-guided & getting negative image of pakium , should understand that there are some factors or say criteria that must be met to appear your stuff on our website. If someone doesn’t meet our criteria we WON’T promote it,  that’s it! Over the years , we have promoted Almost 400 Pakistani Underground Bands & Artists now we are looking for qualitative musicians to Promote.

Waqas Sarwar joined the team in 2008, he has spent several hundred hours on pakium, but not yet paid anything. We are still growing and to keep people & team members intact we need some funds.

If some guys are still crying over their songs that couldn’t hit pakium, I would say Go & get a life!

Another facebook page, a little more popular, became an introduction to this wonderful page I belong to now. Right after I became a fan of Pakium, I left the other page reasons being really personal (anger first, loyalty second :p).

Since then, I have been an active member of Pakium keeping my comment submitting speed to a zillion comments on every third post.I have become a part of them (zombie movies have a lot of ‘them’, if by any chance you have noticed) being able to come up with something that didn’t have the remotest connection with what is called writing. I was still encouraged and got alot of support from Danish Mughal (honorable mention only because he will have to bear with me for long). Over here, I really feel the need to thank all of those who read my article (aka a-three-paragraph-bullcrap).

When the article got published, I couldn’t log off from Facebook for even a split second. I was excited, nervous, fidgety, jittery etc etc because that was actually my debut write-up. By the end of the day, I was able to gather only 13 comments and 12 likes (one being Danish himself). I pathed to Salman Siddique’s post and found out the same response although it was much better and far more mature than my post. I logged on to the website (www.pakium.com) and viewed Danish’s articles (I have already read each of them almost thrice). You wouldn’t believe that the Owner himself had a few good comments (hardly) on his posts.I actually found myself feeling low and dejected.

I scribbled a message to Danish (on Facebook*) telling him that I need to work harder on my upcoming articles to earn response from fans and others. I thought I was out bowled in my debut appearance and hardly anybody took me serious. He sent to me, the statistics (to make me feel better, i think :p) and i found out that people read and shared it with their friends on facebook. It made me feel better.

Each time, I encounter a situation, new angles open up to me. This time, I hated this ‘new angle’ because it only made me cry (okay, damp eyes only!). I am sure Salman’s article also had alot of readers but hardly anybody bothered leaving comments neither on the quality of the post nor on the subject of it. WHY?

There are more than 8000 fans of Pakium and more than 50,000 people visit it every month. On an average, 100 views of a single post generate one comment. So arithmetically, 8000 views would generate only 80 comments. There are so many comments and opinions on “khatti meethi khabrain“. We, Authors, also need positive criticism and feedback from you. It really hurts when we find that people didn’t notice our posts (not all authors are desperate souls like me so they naturally don’t pester Danish) because apparently no comments means no lift*.

I have dragged it to a point where I, myself, am getting a feeling that I am blabbering and I still haven’t gotten my point across. Pakium is a website solely dedicated to promoting the entertainment media of Pakistan and our articles surround it. TO ALL THE FANS, its not just about clicking the “like” button, there is certainly more to it. Listen to music the team exclusively uploads for you, watch videos, read articles and most of important of all, COMMENT! (for God’s sake)

Dear reader, by writing this article, I didn’t mean to offend anybody. If you don’t agree with me, this is one right you are born with. Remember, if you think there is no point, it doesn’t mean there isn’t any.

This is Danish from PakiUM.com . Today I am writing to inform our site readers something about the background of PakiUM and also about upcoming developments that you will be noticing in the coming days. The plan is to take PakiUM at a new level, with a more professional approach than ever.

PakiUM was launched on 1st Jan 2006 and I founded it with a view to promote our Pakistani Underground Bands & Artist who remain un-noticed.After a couple of months of its launch the UG bands were sending their stuff to us . We have another achievement on our portfolio that most of the Underground Bands sent their stuff to us by their own and we developed Underground Music Library which now has over 300 Underground Bands & Artists Listed.

The site was working online for Underground Bands & Musicians successfully but at one time its growth had been almost stopped. Then, Raja Yasir joined the Team and we decided to take PakiUM to the mainstream as well. Here we started to move forward for becoming a complete updated music webezine.With Yasir’s expertise in development & designing and my skills in diggiing media we launched V4 of PakiUM and also a forum along with it.

The new & revamped PakiUM started getting hype in a few days because there were more audience for it then Underground Music Listeners.When the forum was launched, we started to give more attention & contribution to it than the Official Website. The time we spent on our forum was so fascinating, we got to know many loyal members who were following PakiUM since its inception. We also found some great friends there and I have no doubt that it was the best days of my life(other friends say it as well).

We reached over 3500 Registered Members on board in a couple of months and then someone reported to the forum company that our site forum is being run without license.So we had to face a DMCA notice from our web-hoster and a warning to block access to the website. We had to seize & block access to our FORUM. For your information, the License Price of the b forum is about $235 , and PakiUM is not a revenue generation unit.

Keeping this in mind, now, as the traffic is doubling & trippling these days, daily downloads are getting our servers slower,we are facing downtimes as well , the challenges are greater than ever. So we are thinking to take PakiUM more seriously than ever.Few of the developments we are working on are as follows:

Sponsors & Advertisers:

We are looking for sponsors & advertisers so that site’s functions can be run smoothly. The expenses are only being paid by Raja Yasir & I and now we are also tired of it.

Expanding Our Team:

Right now the site is updated mostly by Waqas, Havi & I. We are planning to expand our team and representatives so that our message & work spread to the more possible places.

Marketing & Advertising:

We have a plan to market PakiUM locally & physically as well as virtually in order to get more audience & viewers because we think our site is loaded with necessary content.

We have finally launched the new version of PakiUM.com, now our content is more visible on front page than ever.

After the hardworking of many days , we – the pakium team – have finally launched a new professional layout. The old layout had become very common over internet & un-expandable too so that we couldnt expose much content on our website. We were looking for a new layout so that more data, more posts and more interactions could be displayed on the main page.

We checked over 600 themes but no one could satisfy our needs .  Finally, this current theme impressed us and it looked like the one we were looking for. I would like to thank Raja Yasir for customizing this theme , his nature of hardworking really gives PakiUM a new boost.
