Ali Zafar picks up his paint brush after years in aid of the flood victims

by Danish Mughal - on Sep 19th 2010 - No Comments

Ali Zafar has not only been making headlines for his overwhelming success in the b-town with Tere Bin Laden and his new venture under the Yash Raj banner, starring with Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan, but also for being actively involved in creating awareness internationally for the local flood disaster and his series of fund raisers for the victims. He has invited international singers Bono and Sting to Pakistan to perform for raising funds.

This doesn’t end here. Recently Ali Zafar has picked up his paint brush after years to participate in a painting exhibition arranged by the Alumni Association of the College of Art and Design at Alhamra Art Galleries Lahore on 20 Sept. at 6.00 pm, in aid of the flood victims.

More than a hundred major artists of Pakistan are participating. The entire proceeds of this exhibition will go to the rehabilitation of the craftsmen of the affected areas by providing them with the lost equipment and resources like hand looms, lathes and workshops.

The exhibition will travel to other cities of Pakistan like Islamabad, Faisalabad and Karachi.

” We are hoping for an effective attendance of art buyers to come and support the cause. I have not been able to paint since college due to other commitments but found it imperative to do as much as I can in any way possible. I am thankful to the Alumni to give me the opportunity to contribute to it through my art and honored to be displaying amongst the best.” Says Zafar

Looks like Yash Raj has roped in a quite talented cross border export as the painter-actor in addition to playing lead role, will also be singing his own songs in the next Yash Raj film. The news has been confirmed by his publicist, Miss Hikmut, yesterday.

It seems like International community has awaken up now after the Emergency Call by UN Secretary. Angelina Julie, being the US Goodwill Ambassador , has also donated US $100,000 and has called for the help of the devastating Flood Victims.
