The “Battle of the Bands” days

EPg3Everyone waited tensely as most of the lights flickered off on the stage casting an eerie glow to the set. Silence, as the crowd waited nervously for any sign of movement on the stage. A girl with pierced lips, dark lipstick and dressed completely in black stared at the stage not willing to remove her eyes from it in case she would miss something in the blink of an eye. A teenager about 17 years old with spiked hair donning a black leather jacket barely suitable for Karachi’s heat and sporting a red armband extending from his forearms to his biceps waited along the side of the stage for any movement. Catching up with Entity Paradigm [eP]

From their powerhouse music to strong vocals and intense lyrics, EP really knew how to drive concerts into a loud, frantic, head-banging frenzy back in the day. When they broke up after delivering the hugely popular album Irtiqa, they left a trail of disappointed fans eager for more. Seven years later, EP has decided to regroup with two members less. The band now consists of Fawad Khan on rhythm guitar and vocals, Ahmed Ali Butt on the keyboard and vocals, Hassaan Khalid on bass, Salman Albert on lead guitar and Waqar Khan on the drums. Instep met up with the newly configured band a day after their Aazadi concert in Karachi… (more…)

eP to release second album in December 2009

EPs comeback gig

Who doesn’t remember eP (Entity Paradigm)? It was a band that was an amalgamation of two underground bands from Lahore (Entity and Paradigm) which competed in the Battle of the Bands several years ago and walked away from it as semi-finalists (Aaroh won the competition). They subsequently released their debut album Irtiqa, a concept album, which was well received by music aficionados.
