As of today, Coke Studio has aired three successful seasons, and today we are going to take you back to the third and the last year season:

Coke Studio – Season Three:

The third installment of Coke Studio was aired in between the summers of June and August 2010. Five episodes were aired in the third season and they were entitled Reason, Will, Conception, Form and Realisation. It mainly focused on the Sufism and the artists that performed in this season are:

The highlights of Season Three:

Even though this season of Coke Studio didn’t surpass its last season in form of expectation and hype, but it provided us some awe-inspiring Sufi tracks, sung mainly by the great Abida Parveen, Fakir Juman Shah, Arif Lohar, and Sanam Marvi.

11. Karavan – Yaadein

Yaadein is a different track from Karavan that will take you to a beautiful melody, which is actually created by the house-band members, especially by the violinist, Javed Iqbal. The vocalist, Tanseer Ahmed Daar must also be credit with having a gentle voice.

10. Karavan – Kaisay Mumkin Hai

Karavan, probably one of the most under-rated bands of Pakistan, is on the list again, and this time they are singing Kaisay Mumkin Hai. The house-band members, yet again, create a magical environment. But anyways, you would feel that the song would’ve been a bit longer.

9. Amanat Ali – Ae Wattan Ke

One of the finalists of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, Amanat Ali hits the list for the first time, singing a patriotic rendition of Ae Wattan Ke Sajeelay Jawanon Incredible stuff by Gumby and all the team of Coke Studio.

8. Noori – Hoor Vi Neevan Ho

After making their mark in the second season, Noori hits back at Coke Studio exceptionally well. You’ll feel magic all around you after listening to this track as it contains Ali Hamza’s mature voice, Ali Noor’s incredible range, and Jaffer Zaidi’s inspiring work on piano.

7. Meesha Shafi – Chori Chori

After Zeb and Haniya in season two, Meesha Shafi comes out as the dark horse of season three. I love the way how the house-band members play a huge role in this song, creating a haunting environment, whilst Meesha showcase her breath-taking vocals.

6. Sanam Marvi – Manzil-e-Sufi

Sanam Marvi, hailing from Hyderabad, Sindh (finally someone from my home-town, eh? ) is a beautiful and talented artist. Manzil-e-Sufi is a Siraiki track which explains you that music, certainly, has no language.

5. Fakir Juman Shah – Moomal Rano

A Sufi track that most people will somehow find hard to understand so therefore, I urge all of you to understand the context of the song first and foremost before making any decision on it. This is what we are; this is our tradition, our culture. Thanks to Rohail Hyatt and his team for bringing us back to our original roots.

4. Abida Parveen – Soz-e-Ishq

Soz-e-Ishq is a divine track, dedicated towards the love of the Almighty. Abida Parveen (who in my opinion has THE BEST voice in the earth today) is behind this wonderful composition. Just feel the entire track with your eyes closed and you’ll too get in to the spiritual love.

3. Abida Parveen – Nigah-e-Darwaishan

Nigah-e-Darwaishan contains soul-touching poetry explained by the mesmerizing voice of Abida Parveen. I truly feel blessed after listening to this amazing composition. Her talent is just out of this world. Outstanding.

2. Arif Lohar & Meesha Shafi – Alif Allah

Alif Allah is probably one of the most-watched and most-liked songs of Coke Studio. A track with an insane composition, having the voices of Arif Lohar and Meesha Shafi, and the musical arrangements by the Coke Studio house-band members; spell-bounding!

1. Abida Parveen – Ramooz-e-Ishq

Having her at the top makes me feel great as she’s such a legendary artist, and truly a living legend. And she, undoubtedly, is one of the finest Sufi vocalists of the modern era. Ramooz-e-Ishq is a Sufi song in which Abida Parveen portrays the poet’s thoughts by her charismatic voice.

Coke Studio’s remarks and the future:

In these past three years, Coke Studio has done exceptionally well in promoting our culture and traditions to the entire world. From the artists to the producer to the house-band members, Coke Studio has played a major role in changing the dimension of Pakistani music industry. It is an awe-inspiring platform, were our beloved artists showcase their incredible capabilities to amaze the nation, and the world as well.

It is probably one of the few shows that have everything for everyone, from the matured ones to the younger ones. Pakistan is a nation that has so many different cultures and mixing them together produces something really special, and that really is where Coke Studio arrives. Kudos to Coke Studio and Rohail Hyatt for an extraordinary show, for making us groove to their breath-taking tunes, for making us understand what we really are, and for taking us back to our roots.

And with just less than one day to go, the thunder-storm of Coke Studio is all set to hit Pakistan with its powerful wave once again. The first episode of Coke Studio Season 4 is going to feature Bilal Khan, Mizraab, Jal, Sanam Marvi, Akhtar Chanaal, and Komal Rizvi.

Note: Fawad Khan in Kolachi is a NEW ACTOR and not Fawad Khan of the rock band Entity Paradigm. Due to same name, we couldn’t figure out the case exactly. While our source had asked the producer regarding ‘Fawad Khan’ featuring in Kolachi, the producer confirmed this news today. However, we have just been told that it was not EP’s Fawad Khan who has worked in the movie Khuda Ke Liye.

The below story should now be avoided for more confusions:  The hot male model and lead vocalist of Pakistan’s popular rock band Entity Paradigm –Fawad Khan – will now be featured in an upcoming Pakistani Science Fiction Film Kolachi.

Fawad Khan who started his acting career from a TV sit com ‘Jutt and Bond’, will now be seen acting in an upcoming Pakistani Movie called KOLACHI, which will showcase the Life and issues of Karachiites in a very modern and scientific style.

Fawad’s first ever film was with Shoaib Mansoor(A well known director in Pakistan) for his critically acclaimed movie Khuda Ke Liye. He played a lead role in the movie, which helped him to make his name in the Film Industry.

These days, Fawad Khan is giving more time to his Re-United Band EP, and also appearing in various Advertisements and Fashion shows. The Movie, Kolachi, is expected to release later this year in Pakistan.

After a long span of time, a new telefilm (seems more like a drama serial) has just been started from the Country’s biggest youth oriented channel AAG TV. The drama called as ‘Dreamers’ was being advertised on the channel for last many months. Finally it has been on-aired on 10^th janurary 2010 and as of now 2 episodes of it has been broadcasted.

The ‘Dreamers’ is all about College and students’ life , love and friendships , jealousy and fun. It is directed by the young director ‘Azfar Ali’ who together with his wife and his friend Mani,  has also produced various youth oriented productions, including a famous sitcom ‘Sub Set hai’. This time he is doing his job from behind the camera.

Story Introduction:

Maya, a young college going girl starts receiving anonymous text messages revealing every detail of what she was doing, where she was or even what attire was she in. Mr. Anonymous asks her to meet him in the other block when she suspects it to be the college heart throb Mickey, who candidly flirts around her. When Maya figures out it isn’t him, she speaks to her best friend “Agha” who takes a promise that she wouldn’t ever go to the other block, but in heart she really wants to.

Characters:

Mickey :

Dreamers feature a very hot,young and handsome model – Shahzad Shaikh. Shahzad started his career in showbiz with modeling and now dreamers is his debut acting venture. He is also the son of a Famous Film Actor Javed Shaikh Sahab (yes the actor who recently played the father’s role of Shahrukh Khan in a bollywood movie)

Maya:

Another young face – Ainny Jaffri – is doing a female lead role in Dreamers. Her role seems very strong as the story is going to be a LOVE-TRIANGLE.

Agha :

Yes, the third guy makes the story crispy. Furqan Qureshi who is acting as AGHA is a tall and strong guy, but very much shy in his nature. He Loves “Maya”, who also adores him and use him for her “homeworks” but AGHA fails to express his feelings to Maya.

There is a lot more interesting in “Dreamers” . It has some very nice humorous dialog along with casual language and terms (that is normally used by young girls and guys in campuses and routine life). This drama definitely gonna target the young students of urban cities. If you are one of them, you are not gonna miss it for sure.Its already making buzz among youngsters over internet.

Background Music for the Play:

Music for this play is completely taken from Pakistani Music Industry. As the “Fire records” is an associate of AAG TV and have signed all the major Pakistani Artists with their label. Their tracks are massively being used as the background music for Dreamers.

In dreamers, you will be hearing the song clips of Zeb and Haniya, Kaavish and even Entity Paradim (who hasn’t even signed with the Record Label)

Entity Paradigm performed a couple of days back , a live concert at LUMS. Where the Pakistan’s All Time Favourite Rockstar was found drumming(not drinking.. Lol ) with the band. Yes, Ali Azmat played the drums for Entity Paradigm. Its like DAD is playing music with his Kids, but hell yeaaaahhhh, It is true!! the E.P guys were looking a bit nervous in front of Ali’s performance. The song was a cover called “Sexy Back”.

The “Battle of the Bands” days

Everyone waited tensely as most of the lights flickered off on the stage casting an eerie glow to the set. Silence, as the crowd waited nervously for any sign of movement on the stage. A girl with pierced lips, dark lipstick and dressed completely in black stared at the stage not willing to remove her eyes from it in case she would miss something in the blink of an eye. A teenager about 17 years old with spiked hair donning a black leather jacket barely suitable for Karachi’s heat and sporting a red armband extending from his forearms to his biceps waited along the side of the stage for any movement.

As time lingered on there was movement in the darkness which ending the long wait. Suddenly the crowd roared with approval as the band members of EP slowly took their positions. The quietness gave way to shouts, roars, screams, hoots and whistles. Then abruptly the guitars picked up. The people recognized the song at once and cheered even louder and the noise level reached its pitch. As the dazzled audience watched, EP started rocking Karachi with Kahan Hai Tu. The crowd sprung into motion and teenagers banged their heads in unison, sung along and many people danced at the front of the stage.

Those were the good old days when we used to see EP performing at the battle of the bands. EP did reach the final with Aaroh but did not win the battle of the bands. Nonetheless they gained an audience of over 4000 hardcore loyalists and thousands of admirers for their music across Pakistan and abroad. Several Pakistanis still believe that never in the history of their country has such a great rock band existed or made such an impact on Rock Music.

When questioned the younger audience of Rock Lovers without any thought vote EP as the best rock band in Pakistan. For them even Junoon never had so much influence on Rock Music as did EP. For them Junoon signalled a musical revolution for the previous generation. For this generation the revolution is Entity Paradigm.

Perhaps this was exactly the reason these same people were so hurt when EP claimed it had disbanded in 2007 after a long period of inactivity. It felt as if all Rock Music itself in Pakistan had been dealt a severe blow. With the end of the Linkin Park of Pakistan the same individuals who were known to be their diehard fans were forced to go to rock concerts of other bands and to gigs by underground bands but wherever they went in Pakistan they could never find any band or artist that had the same feel or produced the same rock mixed with rap vibes and ever came close to Entity Paradigm.

Hope Rekindled

Today 6 years have passed since the battle of the bands and the launch of EP’s first album Irtiqa, an album revered by all Rock Lovers in Pakistan. Over 2 painstaking years have passed since EP’s announced its break up.

After all these years of searching for a band that could take EP’s place the hopes and aspirations of fans have been revived again. EP had announced its official comeback early in March 2009 with a concert in LUMS though it is still not widely known by the general population that the band has returned.

EP also rocked Karachi at Ramada Hotel on 1^st May where they introduced their new song shor macha. If that isn’t something for EP lovers to bite on for the time being the band is also claiming that their latest album TBA is set to hit the market in December 2009.

Currently EP has a different line up than it did before it announced its break up. Since Sajjad Khan and Xulfi have left EP the band now consists of Fawad Afzal Khan on vocals, Ahmed Ali Butt on supporting vocals and keyboards, Salman Albert on lead guitars, Waqar Khan on drums and Hassan Khalid on Rhythm Guitars.

Unquestionably when after such a long time a band that is so deeply admired by a segment of the population returns it definitely creates a bang amongst its enthusiasts and EP addicts are preparing to get rocked. Since EP has returned after such a long time new expectations have arisen and we hope that EP will not let its followers down. Not at least this time.
