As we broke the news earlier, about the possibility of Coke Studio to kick-start in India and other countries , there were rumors and also questions about its authenticity, but just a day before an Indian Music magazine has confirmed the news.
In a recent tweet by Rolling Stone – an Indian Music magazine - they revealed : The first episode of Coke Studio India is being shot this Saturday. It will feature Advaita, Shafqat, Pankhi and Shruti Pathak.

Now who’s producing it, where it is being recorded and what they are experimenting are the questions popping into our mind and still unanswered. But some are saying A.R.Rehman is producing it , while there are also rumors about Rohail Hyatt producing the Indian Coke Studio version as well. Me thinks, Rohail Hyatt can’t be the part of Indian version as he has been extremely busy in Pakistan for his Coke Studio version and some other ‘new projects’. It is almost not possible for him to go India and direct any other show. It is also not something which you can guide via Skype and video conferencing.
Coco Cola – the brand behind the popular show – was also in talk with MTV India so there are many chances that MTV will air this musical show in India. From Pakistan, only Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan is featuring in the Indian show (as of yet we know). Where as in Pakistani Coke Studio two Indian Musicians ( Rabbi Shergill and Kailash Kher in Coke Studio ) are participating. It seems now after Cricket our musicians are paving the way to stabilize the relations between the two countries – India and Pakistan.
How do you guys think about this positive development ?
I pretty much don’t care about the Indian version of Coke Studio. However, if A.R. Rahman is the one producing songs then I’m sure no one’s going to miss it. All the credit must go to Rohail Hyatt though who saw a vision and implented it brilliantly. Coke Studio is an amazing discovery by Hyatt.
Why two different versions. Keep it simple COke people.. One region, one language should have one show.. It should be shot alternatively in pakistan and india and should feature both indian and pakistani artists
First of all Indian Music in such regard is not compatible to Pakistan’s music. Its good that Coke Studio is also starting in India (Good for Coke and its branding) but why Indians are coming into Pakistani Music. Already Indian has a lot of its Pathetic influence on our Arts & Media. Why Pakistani Directors and Producers do not understand and are confident on their own capabilities. As far as I know Indian media always projects a propaganda against Pakistan. The Indian Singers and Musicians are jealous of Pakistani singers.
In one of the Interview of Ali Azmat on returning to Pakistan from India, He said that Indian Media channels (TV & Radio) never like to show Pakistani stuff and what our Media channels are doing. Indian movies on Pakistani channels, Indian Dramas on Pakistani Channels, Indian Songs (Pathetic Film Song) are everywhere on every Radio Channel. But this is not happening in India. And by knowing this Ali Azmat left his interview in between of some known Local Indian Radio channel in Mumbai.
I do not know why our people understand the nature of Indian People and their Media nature. I might be looking like an extremist kind of person but I want everyone to see both sides of the picture. Cuz only the lighter side of the picture is shown to people to create a hype of friendship which is totally a bull shit. Pakistani people have forgotten the words of Quaid-e-Azam about Indian people “Indians can never be Pakistan’s friend”. But yes, it can be expected that Pakistani has never followed its Quaid’s rules then how could they understand these words and facts.
No offense to anyone … these are my views about India and their people (whether they are artist or whoever they are )
@ AD: u really amuse me, first of all not all are jealous of pak singers, only some. But dnt u feel that even in pak some pak actors always abuse indian actors and call indian films vulgar. Dont deny this ,when i was in dubai i saw these shows on ARY channel. While some pak music is poplar in india, not all songs are. And india does not show pak films because their quality sucks and most of pak films are about crazzy mullahs. If Coke Studio will have a Indian Version all the people around the World will think that Coke Studio is an Indian Created thing and bla bla Bullshit… At least im not expecting Rohail to sell his thing to India… Vital Signs was the only band who were not “Baighairat” and run to india for money.. there are few more artists from Pakistan im sure who are singing not for popularity money and shit from India like most of our bitch a** singers are doing. Coke Studio for now is the only thing i can show to foriegners that this is the Talent from Pakistan and first they always ask is this Indian??? so i tell them No u f*** it’s Pakistani all they way.. but when it will air from India so we will lose what we have and everyone will forget about Pakistani Coke Studio and will praise Indians as usual.

Indian and pakistan are different countries different culture different langugae our music is linked with sufiism persian turkish and arab indian music is brilliant but different cultural game is there and manyother things. coke studio india is representing india music and coke studio pakistan is representing paki music. the use of instruments are totaly different my friend.
While Pakistan has its own unique kind of music and Indians have their own sort of music.. Indians can make their own coke studio and play their music, but I don’t want to see Pakistan Coke Studio spoiled by Indian bollywood music.
On the political side.
As for Pakistan being “friends” with India, I think friends is a strong word, either we think of our relation as enemies or lovye dubby friends, in either case, its extreme, unbalanced, inconsistent and irrational. I think those are the qualities we need to change in order to have “normal” relations, not only with India, but with our other neighbors as well, Iran, Afghanistan, etc.

Dear many many indian films are copy of English films and we r not crazy to see these copied films.Moreover if something should portray there should be a lesson in it indian films r without any lessons or moral.Watch Pakistani dramas which have some lesson in it and now our paki music is also capturing indian film songs as u r seeing now a days
We all are here, reading or commenting on this for the love of music & it saddens me to the core that people like us differentiate. Music has no boundaries & tags… Pakistan has given us soulful music since years. Sufi takes me into a trance, leaving the rest of the world aside & Indian music like many other geners (Irish, Cuban, Mexican jazz..etc) makes me getup on my feet & move, which is another form of trance. Point to understand is that there are different geners of music.. Every creation is devine! Someone is good at something & the other is good at something eles… lets not categorize music… coz music is the only thing that connects us to ourselves, me to u & u to me, my friend. Whether we like it or not.. Indian Movies & Pakistani music is loved world over. Every creation is commendable.
Lets not spit bitter in the name of Pakistan & India & leave it for politicians.
